Workshop Date: Monday, February 12, 2024
Welcome to Amy’s vocal workshop! Here you’ll learn tools and techniques to help guide you towards projecting in a safe and healthy way. Having performed with several outdoors theatres throughout the Midwest, she has learned it’s not just about “talking loudly”, but conveying your message in an outward manner. Together we will do warm-ups, exercises, partner, and group activities — from helpful warm ups, to finding naturally your most resonant vocal range, to playing an intimate scene in a large space, and so much more. It’ll be a fun workout for your mouth, your lips, your teeth, and the tip of your tongue. It will be vocal gymnastics!
Instructor

Amy Malcom (Resident Vocal Coach) is excited to be the vocal coach for this workshop! She previously acted in MF productions like Twelfth Night in 2017 and 2021 and Two Gentlemen of Verona in 2018 but now she enjoys being on the other side of the stage. As MF’s resident vocal coach, she’s worked on Cymbeline, Midsummer Night’s Dream, The Tempest and Twelfth Night. Some of her acting credits include Milwaukee Rep, First Folio, Creede Repertory Theatre, Drury Lane, Windy City Playhouse among others. Amy is also a 2015 School at Steppenwolf alumni. As much as she’s had a great acting career, she’s really enjoyed the coaching side. Maybe it’s because of maternal instinct since having her son in 2020.
