Reviews

Midsommer Flight brings back their sweet, funny, and thoughtful production… Dylan S. Roberts’s staging is minimal in design (who wants to compete with all the greenery around the audience?) but maximalist in spirit. Yet it’s rooted in a clear female-centered perspective….But the social agenda, such as it is, never overpowers the spirit of misrule and mischief underpinning the whole affair. …it feel like springtime in December. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
– Kerry Reid, Chicago Reader

The original musical score is out of this world… Midsommer Flight’s 5th annual holiday production of Twelfth Night is a treat! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED, 3.5 out of 4 stars.
– Mary Crylen, Chicago Stage Standard

Roberts directs his talented cast fluidly…Seijo is excellent as Viola as are Toledo as Olivia and Mattos as Maria. Tabor, Goff and Caldwell add to the silliness [and]…Bailey Savage as Feste and singer/musician has a terrific comic presence and outstanding vocal style. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

Midsommer Flight takes this play’s spark of mischief to light a blaze that burns hot and true with the light of laughter and discovery. Musicalized with a merry band of folk musicians, Midsommer Flight nurtures mischief in the greenhouse walls of the Lincoln Park Conservatory. … In embracing chaos, this production of Twelfth Night finds harmonious synthesis, for the members of this company understand that love and disorder coincide. The calculated, tactically rich performances beckon the senses to invest in the story. With the beautiful backdrop of a lush greenhouse, Midsommer Flight has created something as magical as it is natural. For those with an insatiable itch for warmth, excitement, or “Shakespeare in the park”  in the middle of December, Twelfth Night is a must-see. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
